Re-Open for Business

Greetings!  I have returned from my QDRO Sabbatical and am back in my comfortable QDRO Saddle (or QDRO Straightjacket, depending on the QDRO Moment!).

July was a busy month... working on the Bloomberg B.N.A. QDRO Portfolio, catching the Grateful Dead reunion tour in Chicago, getting fitted for new bifocal contacts (yeah, it was time), and crying over the death of my laptop (it was slow and painful for us both, and anyone else who would listen to me).

And as for business... Thankfully during this past month, I have had the good fortune of contracting a stellar law student, Emily Cooney, to assist me with legal research and QDRO case law updates for both Kentucky and Ohio (see my subsequent post with case law updates).

Emily is a Northern Kentucky native.  She is a 2L Honors Law Student at Salmon P. Chase School of Law, and also has a degree in History from Northern Kentucky University. She is a zealot for learning and leadership, and these passions have led her to some very unique opportunities, including an invitation to join the Salmon P. Chase Inn of Court this fall.  Emily currently is interning at the esteemed law firm of Ziegler & Schneider, P.S.C.

Outside academia, Emily has stayed active in her community through various activities. For the last three years she has served as the Assistant Swim Coach for Notre Dame Academy. As a Kentucky girl, Emily has an appreciation for good bourbon and thoroughbreds. In her free time (as if!), she enjoy trips to Keeneland and is looking forward to completing the Bourbon Trail.

With any luck, Emily will fall in love with QDROs, as I have, and stick around while she decides her legal future.  The world is her oyster, and it is exciting for me to work with such an enthusiastic, witty, and nerdy fellow-Kentucky girl.

Okay, enough of the show… let’s get back to QDRO Business
