Gone, but not Goodbye

Some people take sabbaticals to fulfill a bucket list, perfect a golf swing, study a foreign language, explore the world, and still others to provide humanitarian services to those in need. Me? No. I’m not going to get a full-body QDRO tattoo (yet). But close. I’m going to take my first-ever sabbatical to concentrate my efforts on a new QDRO portfolio I am authoring for the Bloomberg BNA Tax & Accounting Series.* Bloomberg BNA is a leading resource of legal and regulatory information, so as you might imagine, I am excited to partner with such an esteemed organization. However, I have found it difficult to undertake this endeavor and not distract from my client services and QDRO-blogging, so I will be dedicating the month of July toward this project.

I hear you saying, “Wow! Great Eileen! We’ll be able to use this in our next Daubert Exam!” But wait, there is another way that my endeavor may affect you and your practice...

I WILL MAINTAIN MY REGULAR OFFICE HOURS THROUGH JUNE 30, AND WILL BE PROCESSING NEW AND ONGOING ORDERS UNTIL JUNE 30. HOWEVER, IF YOUR ORDER IS NOT SCHEDULED FOR A COMPLETION DATE BY THE END OF THIS WEEK (MAY 22), I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SCHEDULE YOUR ORDER FOR A COMPLETION DATE THAT OCCURS BEFORE MONDAY, AUGUST 3. 

When my office reopens on August 3, I will schedule all work received on a “first-in, first-out” basis, as I always have. As a friendly reminder, I only set and confirm completion dates once I receive all requested documents and payment. Also, I am implementing a new procedure, which will slightly change scheduling: orders will only be returned on Fridays. 

Since this is such an extraordinary opportunity, I hope you will understand and appreciate my time commitment to this project. I know emergencies happen and courts impose unbearable deadlines, but I will resume my usual practice and turnaround time as quickly as possible in August.
